Take 1

"Hey! Why are you handing me over to this Creepy dude who looks like Elmo with white fur all over him? Not cool Dada! Not cool at all..."

In retrospect, I guess we should have had a Santa picture taken last year. If we had, Lukas might not have been quite so freaked by this encounter with the Jolly Red Man at his daycare's Holiday party yesterday.

Good thing there are still 3 weeks left before Christmas. It might take a few more attempts to pull this off!

  1. My kids love Santa.

The Easter Bunny is a whole different story!

  2. I am going with Jake on Thursday, wish us luck he loves the ladies but screams with men!!! And of course crazy men with red outfits and white beards are going to be too much I fear!

  3. Just count this year's Santa picture as a loss. You'd hate to make him afraid of Santas forever and give him some reason to put you in a "home" in forty years!

  4. The whole Santa picture thing has thus far passed over my home. My kids' photos have never been of the crying, screaming variety. Stunned deer in headlights? Hell yeah. But no tears.

  5. I always think of the movie "Elf" when I see pictures like these. "You're not Santa! You smell like beer and cheese. You sit upon a throne of lies!"

  6. It cracks me up why some kids are okay with Santa and others aren't...
honestly, why are we surprised when our kids are afraid of them? I mean, look at it this way, unless you have a white beard and you are overweight, more than likely your child is gonna kick and scream b/c they are not used to being held by a big fat white man in a red suit! LOL! But, give it a few years... as soon as they understand liking Santa yields GIFTS... their little tunes take a turn! LOL!

  7. Our son talks about Santa constantly, but won't go anywhere near him in person. I think it's the age.

  8. @Ed- I'm sure the Easter Bunny won't be so bad. He loves
    Curious George and the Bunny!

@Mandy - Good luck with that. Hope he fares better than Lukas.

@MTAE - Probabaly the best advice yet.

    @SciFi - Lucky you!

@NukeDad - That is a hilarious movie. But I think Luke is used to the smell of beer and cheese by now!

@VegasDad - I was kinda hoping by next year it would have all passed. We'll see.

  11. (Shouldn't Mrs. LIAYF technically just be LIAYM? The things that pass through my head when flipping through archives...)

  12. @jeskates - Sorry I missed you earlier. So true, so true. Once he figures it out then the pictures wil be no problem, it will be getting him to summarize what he wants when getting to sit on his lap.

@Scary Mommy - No worries, Santa brings gifts for all the boys and girls. Unless you have been bad, of course. Then you are SOL.

@Carol - Welcome. I think it may just be time for you to have your own blog. Nothin to it really. And Mrs. LIAYF is what I went with but it could have easily been the other way as well.

  14. @DC - They actually got one of the New Dads at the daycare to 'volunteer' to be Santa. Glad it wasn't me!

    That would have been awesome.

  16. @kelley - Poor Santa. He has to ride behind those reigndeer all night, so I am sure that wouldn't have affected him anyway!
