Happy Halloween everyone. It's a extra special day here at the 'Luke, I am Your Father' household as not only are we celebrating Halloween, but we are also celebrating Mrs. LIAYF's birthday!
The Birthday Girl |
That's because, after realizing that we were out of pancake mix, I googled a recipe and decided to make the batter from scratch. And, although everything seemed fine with my creation, once I flipped the cakes over on the griddle, I got a taste of the dough.
It was terrible!
Turns out it needed two teaspoons of baking powder, not two tablespoons. Who would have knew? In my defense the recipe had it wrong. But thankfully, my wonderful wife saved the day and helped me quickly make up a new batch of batter. This time, of course, they pancakes turned out delicious.
I most likely will not similarly screw up the chocolate birthday cake recipe. It came in a box. (Now it is done. Toothpick came out dry). Soon I will have to flip it over and hope that it comes out of the Bundt cake pan without falling apart. Wish me luck, it may get ugly.
After breakfast and birthday gifts, Mrs. LIAYF helped Lukas finish carving the pumpkins. He decided he wanted a spider, so she made him one:
Then she added a Frightening Cat to go along with the Spider:
It's been a good day so far. Plus, soon we will round out our birthday Halloween by having guests over for a pre Trick or Treating party, followed by an all out assault on the neighbors houses in search of......
CAAAANNNDDDDYYYY!
Happy Birthday Sweetheart. Life with you is definitely a Treat.

I a big fan of Cake in a Box. Well played, sir.
And happy birthday to Mrs. LIAYF!
Happy birthday to your wife, and I hope her days is fantastic.
Happy Birthday LIAYM!! I hope your day was blessed..
She carve those free hand. Pretty sweet. Happy bday Mrs LIAYF! Cake AND candy! Also pretty sweet.
Love the spider.
Happy Birthday Lukas' Mom... maybe someday you'll get a name of your own.
Also: general rule of thumb... you'll never get a recipe telling you to add tablespoons of anything when you're baking sweets; tablespoons come into play when doing stuff like sauces or reasoning large cuts of meat.
You're a good hubby!! ANd the pumpkins are adorable.
Good things come in boxes. Happy Birthday Mrs. LIAYF.
Happy Birthday Mrs. LIAYF. Great pumpkins too.
Happy Birthday!
Hats off for doing the cake yourself.
Wishing you many happy returns Mrs LIAYF.
The pumpkins look great! And sounds like your wife had a lovely birthday - love the pic of her and Lukas. :)
Thank you all for the birthday wishes. Mrs. LIAYF realy enjoyed reading them all.
And the cake? Turned out drier than I would have liked. But looked awesome covered in powdered sugar on a milk glass cake stand.
Happy Belated Birthday Mrs. LIAYF. And, yes, I'm still catching up on my reader from being away. I'm a horrible blogger.
