Silence...
We both then looked away from what we were doing to see Lukas standing next to a dining room chair standing unsupported and looking at us, arms in the air, with wondrous concentration on his little face. "Way, to go Lukas!" and "Nice standing!" were the first things that came out from each of us as we watched Luke standing there for what seemed like an infant eternity. In reality, though, it was probably more like 10-15 seconds. Then it happened.
Luke placed his left foot in front of his right, supported his weight on the left leg, then brought the right leg forward as well! He plopped down on his back side before putting his full weight back on his right leg, but there it was. Lukas had taken his first independent steps.
We cheered! Lukas grinned from ear to ear, knowing he had done good! I swelled with pride, the happiest I had been in several days.
Then I realized what comes next....but that did nothing to dull such a priceless moment.

He'll be running circles around you in no time whatsoever. You'll miss the days where he didn't walk.
what do you have against bad spellers?...as long as the meaning is there, poetic license gives anyone a right to miss spell or flower up an article or post or comment, i have made 1000's of statements and conciously make at least one spelling error in everyone...i have even written a booook
Yeah, Jason. I am stretching now to get ready to be running after him. Unfortunately I need to get my knee scoped and need to carve out time for that.
Putz- Huh???? How many posts do you have open at once? Grab some caffeine and we'll see you back soon, bro.
James,
Way to capture that moment so well in words. I remember the same moment a week or so ago. We had both turned away to look at something else briefly, turned back to him and realized that he had just lifted himself to a standing position. The steps came a week or so later.
Nice.
Something really cool about when babies realise they can get a reaction from you, like a cheer or a smile.
Yay! A big moment!
I actually liked it when they started to walk. It made going outside so much easier.
@Rob - Thanks man! It happens so fast, that I am glad I am taking the time to be there, with as few distraction as possible, to really enjoy it all.
@X - Yeah, that is pure gold, right there. One of the best things ever. You will see.
@Life - It is happening at just the right time too. Summer is coming!

Thanks Putz. I am very happy you found some of those resources helpful.
BTW, I am not a great speller myself, but think spellcheck has actually made me a better speller since I watch it after each work email I write. I take note.
Hope to see you back soon.
