Well, I could list a thousand reasons off the top of my head, take a deep breath, and list a thousand more. But for now I will present just one.
For the first time in much longer than I can remember (we're talking at least a decade here), I ran through a sprinkler just for the fun of it. I would say that it makes me feel young again, but no, I still feel old. Just happy.
And please spare me any cracks about my dead lawn. We live at the top of a sloping hill, it has been unnaturally dry here this Summer, and we're conservation friendly here in Seattle.
Plus, that just wouldn't be nice, and I know underneath it all you're really a nice person.

Looks fun.
Soon you get to watch saturday morning cartoons again too (not that I wasn't doing that allready come to think of it)
So no cracks about the lawn, but tire jokes are OK?
Did you see the bubbles floating by perfectly as you laughed and ran in through the sprinklers with your son?
Yea, that was so staged. You can't fool me.
You had a whole crew behind you, with a producer, a director, a lighting guy, and of course, a prop guy....blowing bubbles at precisely the right time to create the perfect, idyllic moment.
I'm onto you, Seattle Dad!!!
The bubbles were perfect for the video. You should ad a lawrence welk soundtrack to the video
So cute - part of what makes you a GREAT dad is your willingness to do that. Part of what makes us great moms is our ability to do a mean "camera hold". Most of us don't like to get wet unless it's the shower. ;-) Looks like a fabulous time!! And have you seen the yards on the East Coast??? Now those are some yellow lawns....
Looks like a blast, even with the dead grass.
Dude, your back yard looks way too big to be in Seattle. My kids can barely get a running start before reaching the end. Do you live in the city itself?
Dead lawn - yeah, looks like we're getting a long dry summer this year, you know, a more "traditional" summer that the reast of the country usually gets. We stopped watering our lawn ages ago.
That was a great video! Sprinklers are awesome. My kids LOVE doing this. :)
Actually your lawn looks pretty good compared to our So Cal grass down here. We're on water restrictions. I guess I'll have to post a picture to make you feel better.
I've been thinking of doing some lawn aeration to help improve the water retention. We live on a hill as well and the water just runs off and aeration tends to help the water soak in better.
Looks like a blast. And hey the water will help the grass.
I love doing that too. The sprinkler part, not letting the grass die. But it beats having to mow twice a week.
Dude, that boy needs a slip-n-slide! They kill the grass but since you've already done that...
That whole being a kid again thing? Awesome. Wait until he's big enough for a slip-n-slide.
Who has time to look after a lawn anyway? Matthew loves the sprinkler too, except he'll just stand directly over it for about 5 minutes screaming until he's completely soaked.
Running through the sprinkler is fun. But I don't remember the water being so cold when I was younger.
@Dan - It's been a long time since that one.
@Scifi - Yeah, certain things just get to me.
@McMommy - Damn, I paid top dollar to those guys to make it look cheaply made.
@William - Says a lot about us that we remember the LW soundtrack.
@Mighty M - Mrs. LIAYF has the camera hold down to a science and doesn't want to get wet.
@VegasDad - It was, and refreshing too.
@Daniel - I have a Seattle addess, but only have a 10th of an acre like most houses around here. Small footprint for the house makes it look bigger.
@SuperMega Dad - It was fun. Great tip on the aeration. I will have to try that if I ever stop being so lazy.
@DC - Nothing but Winter can help my grass at this point.
@Darren - Yeah, that was annoying when it was green. It would just keep growing and growing.
@Ed - It is a perfect slip and slid yard with the natural slope.
@Momo - I love doing those things that I haven't done for years. The slip and slide will be great. Perhaps next year on it.
@Lady Mamma - Amen to that. lol. Sounds like Matthew has the right idea there.
@Dad Stuff - The brain does a great job of blocking out the painful (or cold) parts.
Looks like fun! Who cares about grass anyway?
@Petra - Clearly not me.
Nice lawn! Sorry, but I think you stole our summer. It's 60F today and I am wearing a friggin' sweatshirt.
The video is great! Not having kids, I need to look around for excuses to have fun like you're having. Fortunately my friend is coming to visit next week with her four children, so I'll have an excuse to run through sprinklers. If it's warm enough.
